On a racing sailboat, the Skipper and the Tactician have a very special relationship. The skipper, or owner, is always "the boss". But on the racecourse, the skipper is busy driving the boat and maintaining the right heading so he HAS to trust the tactician to provide key directional information and to communicate maneuvers effectively with the crew.
That's how NEXT TACK works. You drive ... and we provide the forward vision and tactical plans needed to keep the company in the lead.

Our Name, NEXT TACK has its roots in the world of competitive sailing. Sailboats (like companies) win races by consistently identifying and sailing on the "favored tack" which gives them a definite competitive advantage over other boats on the race course. The "favored tack" is the course or heading which provides the fastest time to the next mark. Expert tacticians are very adept at identifying the wind shifts, current direction, and sail trim required to keep their boat on the "favored tack" for as long as possible. They are ALWAYS looking ahead, watching the wind, the water, and the other boats on the course to determine precisely where the NEXT TACK needs to happen to keep their boat ahead of the fleet.
NEXT TACK CONSULTING does the same thing for our corporate clients. We are "business tacticians" tasked to help our clients look ahead and determine what they must do to remain competitive in their area of business. Through a combination of strategic planning and tactical implementation we help our clients chart the "fastest course" through their unique competitive landscape.
